Successful Be Curious 2026

The YCRBCIP team and Bowel Cancer pathology team supported by patient representatives, Emma Jackson and Karen Nile, had a very successful stand at Be Curious 2026.

Be Curious was held on 16th May 2026 across the University of Leeds.  Our stand What can your poo tell us about you?’ was in the Parkinson Building and was visited by hundreds of children and young families.  We challenged them to a quiz, had a Pathology-based escape room game entitled ‘The Locked Loo and The Golden Poo’,  and had various poo games and activities.   We also posed the question “Could you be a Pathologist?” and introduced visitors to the role, explaining that a key aspect of pathology involves identifying features that are not typical or expected. The visitors to Be Curious were then challenged to detect hidden images within H&E-stained sections and enjoyed receiving a medal upon completion of the task.
