Addressing the variation in adjuvant chemotherapy in Yorkshire and the Humber

Date

Yorkshire Cancer Research Bowel Cancer Improvement Programme colleagues have published a paper investigating the variation in adjuvant chemotherapy in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

The paper 'Addressing the variation in adjuvant chemotherapy treatment for colorectal cancer: Can a regional intervention promote national change?' has this week been published in the International Journal of Cancer.

The study found that considerable variation in the management of adjuvant chemotherapy for colorectal cancer exists both at a national and regional level. Through bringing this information to the attention of clinicians through the YCR BCIP, a proposed algorithm was agreed in order to reduce treatment variation across a large representative region of England.
